Chartwell Ontario Long-Term Care Visitor Policy

Chartwell understands the importance of visits by family, friends and visitors in enhancing the quality of life and emotional well-being of our residents. Visitors are welcome to visit at any time that is mutually agreed upon by the resident and that keeps in mind other residents need for privacy and rest.

Visits may be restricted out of precaution due to safety reasons such as in outbreak situations or to prevent the spread of infection. We will make every effort to communicate changes to visitation requirements with the resident and their substitute decision maker as soon as possible once a change has been determined.

All visitors will be asked to enter and exit through the main door and sign our visitor log indicating at each visit the date and time of your visit, name of visitors, resident visiting or purpose of visit, and a contact number where visitors can be reached. Information will be used in an emergency situation while visiting the home or to contact visitors if there has been a possible exposure to an infectious agent.

We ask that all visitors review the following Public Health Ontario education and training resources prior to your visit:

Homes will follow direction from the Ministry of Health and the provincial or local Public Health authorities as it relates to visitor restrictions, screening and testing requirements, and the use of personal protective equipment such as masking protocols. There may be different requirements for caregivers versus general visitors; these requirements are outlined in our Visitor Policy.
